Interruption vs Intervention

When your child is "working" on something and displays concentration, it is vital we do not interrupt. Interruption means stopping the flow. It could be in the form of a call to come and have dinner or simply a desire to converse. Here to interrupt means to hinder the development of a very important skill: that of staying focused on a chosen activity.

Intervention on the other hand is needed to re-direct a child's unruly behaviour who might benefit from guidance in engaging in a more stimulating and appropriate activity.
