Logical sequence

There is logic in the way material is "presented" to a child: through observation the adult provides activities which meet the little one's needs and interests. The more appropriate and relevant an activity/game is, the more the child exerts herself, while learning to trust herself and her abilities. Scaffolding is paramount: to allow the child to get the most out of any given activity, she needs to have develop the necessary skills to perform new ones and expand her knowledge. For instance activities which require the child to use her pincer grip, i.e. thumb, index and middle fingers, are precursors of her holding a pencil correctly.
